A weekend full of sporting satisfactions was the one that just ended for the CRG Racing Team at the Sarno circuit, where the OK and OK Junior Italian Championship took place in a single trial. The main goal of the trip for the CRG Factory Team was to prepare from a technical point of view the Fia World Championship of the direct drive classes, to be held in Sarno on the weekend of September 18th, but it proved to be very productive also from the sporting point of view, having given the CRG colours yet another national title with Gabriel Gomez in the OK class. The OK Junior could also be within CRG’s reach, considering that Scott Lindblom won the pre-final and was fighting for the title also in the Final before a storm caused the event to be suspended. The second part of the race took place at the end of the day, in slow mode, and therefore the CRG drivers did not take part in it.
As for the OK category, Olin Galli was also very competitive, in the Final he was forced to retire due to a technical problem while he was leading the race, and Simone Bianco did excellent races as well. In OK Junior, on the other hand, in addition to Lindblom, Nikolas was once again among the fastest of the weekend who obtained the 9th place on the grid for the pre-final, as did the Brazilian Enzo Nienkotter always close to the top ten.
The positive balance of the weekend was completed by Oliver Rasmussen in 60 Mini, author of the pole position in qualifying practice and then 9th in Race 1, while in Race 2, when it started raining, he went off the track during the last lap while occupying the 4th place.
Now our focus moves to France for the KZ Fia World Championship, while the OK and OK Junior classes will return to Sarno on September 18th for the most important event of the year.
The comment of the pilots:
Gabriel Gomez (OK): “Our main goal was to work on chassis and engine set-up in view of the Fia World Championship and from this point of view we are very satisfied with the feedback we received also in relation to the new asphalt that has been recently done. Then obviously winning the race and the Italian title is still a great satisfaction also considering the high level of the opponents who took part in this event and motivates the whole team in the best way before the World Championship.”
Scott Lindblom (OK Junior): “I am very happy with the speed we had this weekend and how our chassis-engine package has adapted well to the track and the different grip conditions we found. It was a very useful weekend in view of the World Championship and the only regret remains the heavy rain that interrupted the Final, because I was having fun and could have fought for the victory in the final stages.”
